We set out to celebrate our wonderful students and amazing teachers at our Community Gathering and Picnic. While we didn’t meet our target audience at our Community Picnic and Gathering, we certainly gathered the community! So many things to be thankful for on rainy Sunday in September!

Today, #thankfulthursday, we introduce you to the generosity of the 6 volunteers who spent 5 hours preparing 150 fresh, hot and delicious, individual servings of vegetarian Mediterranean and Mexican bowls from Anna Sudha Community Kitchens. The bowls were amazing! Pictured are Ajanth Mohan, Chitra Govindaraj and Sivadarshan Ajanth who not only helped prepare the meals but helped to deliver them to us!

When the LCFS crew of Lt. Parmenter, Technician Ramsberg and Firefighter Longo #SterlingFire rolled into the park they turned the heads of every kid- young and old- who came over to meet the firefighters and get a full tour of the entire truck! A great way to encourage community – the essence of our picnic.

We love our student volunteers- Jasmine and Pushti from Heritage HS NHS @RoarPride – very helpful and kind! They helped set up and serve meals, helping to hand out prizes and of course- everyone got a new or gently used book to take home! And a shout out to Costco who donated the cake!

And it wouldn’t have been complete without our students and their families who came out to celebrate with us! We had adult English Language Learners, past and present Head Start students and their families who also were former ELL students, and ELL teachers who all spent time sharing their stories and learning about our great community! We are more than #thankfulthursday– we are truly blessed!
