There is a great need for volunteers to help adults develop the English skills to find a job, go shopping, get a driver’s license, make a doctor’s appointment, finish school, read to their children or achieve their personal and professional goals. No experience necessary
– just a big heart and a few hours training with us on ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) teaching methods. We provide the resources including a “toolbox” of fun, interactive activities that promote learning. We also discuss cultural differences and approaches to working effectively with an international student population during the training.

In addition to having a tremendous positive impact on the lives of their students, our volunteers provide our nation’s immigrants with a compassionate, welcoming side of America. Not only do our volunteers derive a deep personal satisfaction from assisting their students, they also often develop friendships with people from different countries and cultures. For them, teaching English is a challenging, enriching and enjoyable experience.
